TOKYO-Japanese mobile Internet users by the end of March 2001 will reach 38 million, doubled from the number of wireless Internet users at the end of September, according to a recently released government estimate.
When the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) began tracking the mobile Internet user numbers in December 1999, there were merely 3.7 million users in Japan. The figure swelled to 19.7 million by the end of September. The government estimates the figure will double during the coming six months.
