Philips partners with Widcomm to speed Bluetooth development

SAN DIEGO-Integrated circuits producer Philips Semiconductors formed a strategic alliance with Widcomm Inc. to speed up the development of its Bluetooth wireless technology products and to provide customers with a complete range of Bluetooth solutions and support.

“Widcomm is a pioneer in Bluetooth software, while Philips Semiconductors is the first to deliver high volume Bluetooth silicon,” said Dirk Braune, marketing director of business line cordless and corded at Philips. “We are extremely happy to create an alliance with such a competent Bluetooth partner.”

Philips said it expects the alliance to provide customers with a one-stop shop for complete, optimized solutions involving ICs, software and original equipment manufacturer designs, as well as support in all stages of development.
