TAMPA, Fla.-Under a contract with U.S. Unwired Inc., close to 5 million subscribers across the United States will soon have GTE Telecommunications Services Inc.’s Phase I 911 solution, which will connect wireless callers with the correct public safety agency.
The company said the solution is designed to meet the Federal Communications Commission’s E911 Phase I mandate and can be updated to the FCC’s Phase II requirements.
“Our W911 service-bureau solution helps operators meet the FCC mandate without incurring major infrastructure costs,” said Mike Hartman, GTE TSI’s president.
The 911 mobile position center solution is part of GTE TSI’s line of location-based services, INPosition.
