SAN JOSE, Calif.-Crossbow Technology Inc., a developer of Bluetooth sensor network architecture, and Cyrano Sciences Inc., a supplier of array based chemical sensor technology, signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop a wireless leak detection system prototype.
The initial prototype will integrate Cyrano’s current commercial chemical sensing chip with the CrossNet Wireless system.
Crossbow said the system will initially be tailored to detect hydrocarbon leaks for the gas and oil industries, with future applications including measuring vapors or odors in other industrial applications.
