Lafayette Communications to acquire spectrum

BERWYN, Pa.-Lafayette Communications L.L.C., in which wireless operator Triton PCS owns a 39-percent interest, entered into a definitive agreement to acquire 10 megahertz of spectrum from subsidiaries of Carolina PCS 1 Limited Partnership for an undisclosed purchase price.

The licenses encompass nine Basic Trading Areas covering 3.5 million potential customers in South Carolina, including Myrtle Beach, Greenville, Charleston, Columbia, Anderson, Florence, Sumter, Orangeburg and Greenwood.

Lafayette also reported it was successful in acquiring 10 megahertz licenses in 14 BTA’s through the Federal Communications Commissions auction of 1900 MHz C- and F-Block licenses. The l4 licenses cover approximately 6.8 million pops in Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia.
