TOKYO-Japan Telecom Co. Ltd., the country’s third-largest wireless operator, reported subscribers for its Internet-enabled cell phones reached 5 million customers.
“Thanks to communications functions and content such as ringing tones, we have been able to make ourselves popular with customers,” the company said in a statement.
Japan’s largest operator, NTT DoCoMo, has reported signing up more than 18 million customers to its i-mode wireless Internet service, with No. 2 carrier DDI Corp. reporting 5.6 million users for its EZWeb Internet service.
