HONG KONG-Nokia has signed a contract with CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) to supply an 800 MHz TETRA system which includes digital exchanges, base stations, dispatcher equipment, a network management system and terminals.
TETRA networks will strengthen CLP Power’s operational communications by integrating TMR (Trunked Mobile Radio), mobile phone and pager functions. TETRA also offers secure digital mobile communication and a wireless data communications platform for various applications.
CLP Power supplies electricity to more than 5 million in the Kowloon peninsula and New Territories of Hong Kong. According to Ted Woodley, general Manager of Power Systems of CLP Power, “We chose Nokia because of their cost effective solutions, proven leadership, innovative radio terminal and strong local support. With TETRA technology, we are confident that our operations will benefit and our customer will be better served.”
