3Com announces layoffs

SANTA CLARA, Calif.-Approximately 1,200 employees have been cut from the work force of 3Com Corp., a provider of connectivity products and solutions. The company said the layoffs are in accordance with the restructuring plan they announced in December, which called for improving cost effectiveness and efficiency in operations by reducing employment, discretionary costs and product costs and saving in plant/property and equipment.
