BOSTON-American Tower Corp. reported revenues for the fourth quarter and year ended Dec. 31 of $243.8 million and $735.3 million, respectively, compared with revenues of $89 million and $258.1 million for the fourth quarter and year-end 1999.
The company recorded a net loss of $54.8 million, or 30 cents per share, for fourth-quarter 2000, compared with a loss of $18.3 million, or 12 cents per share, for the same time the previous year. American Tower said it lost $194.6 million, or $1.15 per share, for the year, compared with $50.7 million, or 34 cents per share, for 1999.
Steve Dodge, American Tower’s chairman and chief executive officer, said 2000 was a year of rapid portfolio expansion in the United States and Mexico.
“We will be evaluating, very selectively, growth opportunities in our existing markets, and we anticipate entering at least one new international market. Having said this, we believe we are in a period when holding significant resources in reserve will serve our long-term interests very well,” Dodge said.
