ALAMEDA, Calif.-UTStarcom Inc., which provides wireless and wireline telecommunications access equipment, signed $18 million in contracts to expand installations of its PASTM citywide wireless access systems in eight locations in the Guangdong Province of China. The existing systems were originally deployed during 2000. PASTM provides wireless mobile-phone service for up to several hundred thousand consumers at densities over 15,000 subscribers per square kilometer.
