SAN DIEGO, United States-Samsung Electronics selected Qualcomm’s MSM5200 Mobile Station Modem integrated circuit and system software solution for use in its new handsets. The handsets will meet the IMT-2000 wideband-CDMA (W-CDMA) mode for third-generation (3G) services.
According to Qualcomm, with the features offered by the MSM5200 solution, manufacturers will develop a range of products for wireless multimedia applications-from standard handsets to advanced smart phones-quickly, securely and cost effectively.
K.T. Lee, chief executive officer and executive vice president of Samsung, said, “The MSM5200 solution will allow us to provide our customers with advanced W-CDMA handsets offering competitive system performance, the richest feature sets and wireless Internet capabilities.”
