LAS VEGAS-Executives from Brightpoint, RadioShack, Sierra Wireless and TeleCorp PCS were presented with the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association’s President’s Awards this week at CTIA Wireless 2001.
Brightpoint and its chief executive officer, J. Mark Howell, received the award for donating facilities and manpower to the Wireless Foundation’s campaigns, enabling the Foundation to respond to requests for handsets faster and more efficiently.
RadioShack and Leonard H. Roberts, the company’s chairman and CEO, were honored for providing phones for use by victims of domestic violence in the Wireless Foundation’s Call to Protect program.
Sierra Wireless’s David Sutcliffe was recognized for his leadership in the Wireless Data Forum (WDF), and his help in uniting the WDF and CTIA.
Gerald Vento of TeleCorp PCS received the award for this work to ensure the integrity of the spectrum auction, on behalf of the entire wireless industry.
CTIA’s President’s Awards are presented annually to individuals and companies that have made a special contribution to the wireless community.
