MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.-The former chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, William E. Kennard, made his first step into the private sector by joining the board of directors of personal digital assistant maker Handspring Inc.
“I am delighted Bill Kennard has agreed to join the Handspring board of directors,” said Donna Dubinksy, Handspring chief executive officer. “With his recent experience at the FCC, Bill brings to our board extraordinary breadth and depth in the field of wireless communications.”
As a member of the company’s board, Kennard joins Dubinksy and another Handspring executive; a lawyer at Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers; a venture capitalist; the CEO of Liberate Inc.; and the dean of Harvard’s Business School.
“I see Handspring as one of the clear innovators in defining and realizing this exciting future of what will be truly personal computing and communications,” Kennard said.
