FREEPORT, Texas-Elite Logistics Inc., which develops Internet-based tracking systems, and Track-A-Teen Inc., which boasts safe driving programs for teens, announced a distribution agreement that they said is “aimed at bringing peace of mind to anxious parents.”
Track-A-Teen will now offer Elite’s PageTrack 2 GPS-based vehicle tracking system to parents and court systems. With this new option, parents will be able to directly monitor their teen’s driving over the Internet. This is an enhancement to the company’s current “How’s my driving?” program for teens, which includes a bumper sticker that asks other drivers to report incidents via a toll-free number. The reports are then forwarded to parents via e-mail, fax or mail within 24 hours.
The company, which currently has more than 3,000 clients, said it hopes additional safety options like a panic button, roadside assistance and automatic collision notification will appeal to the teen drivers who will probably not be as enthusiastic about being tracked.
