Flextronics makes headway in Europe

LONDON-According to a study by Strategy Analytics Inc., Flextronics Inc. will become Western Europe’s second largest cell phone manufacturer with 34.5 million units, or an 18.4 percent production share, in 2001.

Neil Mawston, an analyst with Strategy Analytics, said, “Flextronics will grow its European production share by 950 percent, and jump from number nine to number two in Europe, when the Ericsson deal is completed in 2001. With an 18.4 percent production share, Flextronics is closing in on Nokia’s European slice of 22 percent.”
