MobileWay moves into U.S. market

SAN RAMON, Calif.-Short message service company MobileWay Inc. today announced it is moving into the more complicated U.S. market.

The company, which offers an SMS product that allows messages to travel over diverse networks, now offers its product to European and Asian carriers, areas where SMS use has exploded. MobileWay said it plans to begin offering its Inter-Network Messaging Routing Service to carriers in the United States.

The U.S. market, with its differing network technologies, is much more complicated than the rest of the world, which primarily uses GSM networks. MobileWay said its product is primarily designed for GSM networks but also can work with TDMA, CDMA and iDEN networks.

“This is exactly what U.S. wireless network operators need to inter-connect the various, disparate network protocols,” said Patrice Peyret, MobileWay’s chief executive officer.
