Sprint PCS offers voice-enabled Web access

KANSAS CITY, Mo.-Sprint PCS reported nationwide availability of voice-enabled, Web access through its Voice Command service.

The network-based service allows customers to listen and respond to e-mail messages and access news, stocks, horoscopes, traffic reports and television updates by pressing *TALK and speaking into any Sprint PCS phone. In addition, each customer is provided with a personal Web page to manage, organize and enter up to 2,500 numbers in an address book, eliminating the need to voice train each entry.

For a limited time, Sprint PCS said it will offer the service free for three months on any service plan. After the three months, the service is expected to cost $5 per month.
