FCC delays paging auction

WASHINGTON-The Federal Communications Commission has delayed the auction of upper and lower paging channels until Oct. 30. It was originally scheduled to begin June 26.

Participants who filed their short form prior to the original deadline of May 14 should plan on re-filing their applications prior to the new deadline of Sept. 17 since the FCC said applications filed prior to May 14 will be considered defective and purged.

Following the application deadline of Sept. 17, upfront payments will be due Oct. 5. Other auction-related deadlines will be announced in the future, the FCC said.

The FCC said the delay was necessary “due to the need for additional testing on newly developed Web-based software.”
