SINGAPORE

Singapore Airlines has deployed Unimobile Inc.’s wireless messaging platform to provide its customers mobile flight alert services. The services, which run on Unimobile’s Mobile Messaging Platform and the Unimobile Intelligent Network, will be available to Singapore Airlines customers in more than 30 countries, including the United States. With the platform, wireless users can receive multiple alerts for up to three flights at selected times or intervals.

KUWAIT

Motorola Inc. said its Global Telecom Solutions Sector has signed a $22.5 million contract with Kuwait’s Mobile Telecommunications Co. to expand its GSM network and conduct its first GPRS trial in Kuwait. “Motorola has supplied MTC with GSM infrastructure since 1994, and we continue to work with MTC on the latest technological solutions that will optimize its system in order to gain an ever-increasing subscriber base in Kuwait’s wireless market,” said Jeff Cherif, Motorola’s Middle East regional manager for GTSS.

JAPAN

Japanese mobile-phone users will soon have access to their friendly neighborhood web-slinger from their phones. Marvel comics’ Spider-Man, whose superhero exploits have been documented in more than 50 years of comics, is swinging onto the screens of Japan’s biggest carriers. NTT DoCoMo, J-Phone, KDDI and DDI Pocket will offer Spider-Man content thanks to an offer from Riot Entertainment Ltd. and Cybird Co. Ltd. The companies said hundreds of Spidey images will be available in a promotion of the upcoming Spider-Man movie, scheduled for a 2002 release.

CANADA

Telus Corp. and its wholly owned subsidiary, Clearnet Communications Inc., are eligible to receive up to approximately $1.151 billion in connection with its May 11 offer to repay and consent solicitation made by Clearnet for all of its outstanding debt securities. The offer to repay expires at midnight on June 8 and Clearnet anticipates the payment date will be June 12.
