BELLEVUE, Wash.-The Universal Wireless Communications Consortium announced they disagree with several conclusion in the CDMA Development Group’s sponsored June 2001 study “GSM or CDMA: The Commercial and Technology Challenges for TDMA Operators” by The Shosteck Group.
“The report fails to explain, in an evenhanded manner, the benefits of TDMA operators migrating to GPRS/EDGE and UMTS technologies,” said Chris Pearson, executive vice president for the UWCC. The UWCC further emphasized that they endorse EDGE and UMTS 3G technologies and disagree that cdma2000 should be included in TDMA’s evolution to next-generation.
“The report is counterproductive to achieving an open architecture of global seamless communication,” Vicki Livingston, the UWCC’s director of marketing, added.
