HONG KONG-Virgin Mobile is planning a $550 million expansion into Asia, focusing on establishing mobile virtual network operations in 10 Asian countries during the next three to five years, according to international press reports.
Following a Singapore service this year, the company is targeting Hong Kong and Taiwan. China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea and Thailand are additional target markets.
Virgin Mobile (Asia) is an equal partnership between Virgin Mobile and Singapore Telecommunications. It will work with local partners in various Asian markets, the reports said.
