Texas Instruments Inc. said it has developed a hardware and software chipset solution for GPRS class 12 wireless handsets.
HiddenMind Technology Inc. announced it merged with AnyDevice Inc., a move the companies said will allow them to offer an integrated mobile and voice software platform for delivering always-available mobile services. The company will continue under the HiddenMind name.
America Online Inc. and AT&T Wireless Group Inc. entered a marketing deal to deliver new services via wireless handsets. The deal calls for AOL to provide AT&T Wireless with desktop features including e-mail and instant messaging to run on AT&T Wireless’ planned GSM/GPRS network.
PacketVideo Corp., which offers wireless multimedia services, cut a “minimal number” of positions in order to restructure and redirect its business focus. A PacketVideo spokeswoman, said the moves were necessary because the company has been growing so fast. PacketVideo grew from 50 employees to 300 in the last year.
European communications company Wind Telecomunicazioni S.p.A. has chosen Netonomy’s e-Care and e-Commerce solution, MyNetonomy, as the basis for its self-service residential customer portal. With MyNetonomy, Wind’s subscribers will have access to Web-enabled customer care.
DENSO Corp. announced it has joined with Open Interface Inc. to develop MP3 sound reproduction software for car navigation systems. The software will incorporate audio functions into vehicle navigation systems.
Verizon Wireless signed an agreement with Bravo Cellular L.L.C. to acquire Bravo’s wireless business serving North Carolina Rural Service Area Number 15, consisting of five counties in central North Carolina, including Cabarrus, Davie, Iredell, Rowan and Stanly.
