NetTest

NetTest recently released several new product additions to its testing, monitoring and management solutions. MasterQUEST is a complete intelligence resource for automating the management of converged networks, like those that deliver wireless Internet. This new technology also monitors telecom and datacom signaling to ensure adequate GPRS performance. NetTest also unveiled iMPAct, a software suite that allows SS7-based network operators to acquire platforms based on real-time intelligence on network and service use, traffic load, failures and causes, and quality and fraud indications. The company also announced its PMD measurement system, the NetTest Nexus, a portable measurement system that allows designers and operators to measure the bandwidth limiting effects of PMD in high bit rate, long-haul optical networks. www.nettest.com.

Spectrum Signal Processing Inc.

Spectrum Signal Processing Inc. announced availability of its new flexComm HCDR-VME, a high channel density VME receiver subsystem targeted at government applications, like signal intelligence. The system can monitor up to 32 narrowband channels or eight wideband channels per slot and solves the common I/O to PowerPC bandwidth problems. Spectrum said the system can also be used for commercial applications like wireless test and measurement, satellite gateways and hubs, cellular base stations and terrestrial broadband. Motorola Inc. has rolled out three advanced CompactPCI single board computers based on Intel’s architecture. The three boards, CPN5365, CPV5370 and CPV5375, are targeted for equipment built for industries such as telecommunications, industrial automation and medical diagnostic. www.motorola.com.

Qualcomm Inc.

Qualcomm Inc. has announced the commercial release of its ViaWeb 3.0 Internet-based load tracking interface designed for easy and direct access to real-time shipment information on loads transported throughout the NAFTA region. “ViaWeb is a powerful tool that supports our Mobile Data Interchange initiative and expands the value of our Qualcomm mobile communications,” said Glynn Spangenberg, vice president of truckload operations, Qualcomm wireless business solutions. www.qualcomm.com.

MapInfo Corp.

MapInfo Corp. and Marconi plc have announced the availability of deciBel Planner 2.5 for MapInfo Professional. MapInfo’s deciBel Planner 2.5, developed with the cooperation of Marconi’s Wireless Network Planning Unit, has new features including data warehousing, enhanced model tuning and a new Universal Mobile Telecommunications System module that enables modeling scenarios for bid strategies, traffic and return on investment planning and the design of UMTS networks. www.mapinfo.com

Netflow

At the Southeastern Communications Association annual trade show, Netflow released InstaPage wireless messaging software. InstaPage, which Netflow is encouraging carriers and resellers to give free to all customers for advertising purposes, is personal computer software that enables text messages to be sent to any wireless device. www.netflow-usa.com

Agilent Technologies Inc.

Agilent Technologies Inc. announced the addition of a cdma2000 data test solution to its family of portable drive-test products for 3G wireless networks. the new cdma2000 data test solution uses Agilent’s drive test platform to find and help resolve wireless network problems to speed deployment of new data services. Andrew Corp.

Andrew Corp. recently introduced two new products. A dual band, vehicle roof mount antenna, which is compatible with analog and digital wireless systems, increases signal strength, maximizes calling range and prevents dropped calls. The SkyPath entry-level integrated broadband wireless system includes everything necessary for deploying a base station capable of supporting 1,000 subscribers. With SkyPath comes base station antenna, 5-watt transmitters, receivers, and frequency converters., all packed into one integrated rack with either a Hybrid or Vyyo modem termination system. www.andrew.com.

Narda has introduced several new products. Model 4161 is a low-cost coupler, which offers high directivity and low intermodulation, and is available from stock in 10, 20, and 30 dB coupling values. Model 8460LP-N2 is a low-cost VSWR monitor that provides a solution for service providers that need Form-C relay closure when a Tx VSWR failure occurs. And Model AF-TNC-6-5, which is available in 3, 6, 10 and 20 dB coupling values, is a fixed attenuator that features a 5-watt average power rating and standard TNC connectors. www.dept26.com.

Radio Data Com is introducing its new Indoor Software RIPS (Radio engineering and Planning Software), which it said is dedicated to the simulation of radio indoor propagation in three dimensions. Until now, RIPS was used mainly for pilot and confidential projects, including indoor cellular engineering, radio frequency planning for GSM corporates and TETRA indoor, calculating the radio access point number, and network planning for radio LAN IEEE 802.11b and HiperLAN 2.
