BEDMINSTER, N.J.-Verizon Wireless added a whopping 807,000 net new customers in the second quarter of this year, according to recently released subscriber results, increasing total customers to 28 million, up 10 percent from the year-ago quarter.
More specifically, total gross postpaid customer additions were up 10 percent from the second quarter 2000, and made up 85 percent of all gross additions. Churn decreased from the previous quarter to 2.3 percent, with postpaid churn alone decreasing to 2.0 percent.

“This was a strong quarter in terms of gross and net additions as we continue to focus on the fundamentals of this business and the quality of our customer base,” explained Denny Strigl, president and chief executive officer.
Verizon said the positive results are a result of the company’s retail partnership with RadioShack, increased national promotions and its new digital prepay product.
