NEW YORK—Tele2 AB, formerly NetCom AB, today said it will be the first mobile virtual network operator in the Netherlands under an agreement with Telfort, a GSM operator in the Netherlands that is owned by British Telecom.
Tele2 said the agreement will allow it to offer mobile services in the country in addition to the existing fixed-line offering.
“This agreement enables us to gain cost-effective, efficient and flexible access to the mobile network,” said Lars-Johan Jarnheimer, the company’s president and chief executive officer. “As a result, we will be able to offer our current subscriber base of approximately 1 million fixed-line customers in the Netherlands cheap access to mobile telephony services.”
