Ericsson, Seimens and Motorola win Bharti contract

NEW DEHLI, India—Bharti Enterprises, India’s leading cellular service provider, finalized agreements with three vendors—Ericsson, Seimens and Motorola—for the supply of infrastructure equipment. The value of the contracts totals US$150 million dollars.
Ericsson will supply complete end-to-end infrastructure, intelligent network (IN) architecture, base stations and General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) system for Bharti’s new operations in Haryana, UP West, Kerala and Tamil Nadu circles as well as expand services in Chennai city.
Motorola will provide switches, IN networks and base stations for Mumbai, Maharashtra and Gujarat circles, while Siemens will supply end-to-end infrastructure, IN architecture, base stations and GPRS equipment for Madhya Pradesh circle and existing operations in Kolkata.
