Motorola revises 3Q expectations

SCHAUMBURG, Ill.—Motorola Inc. revised its third-quarter forecast for this year, saying that sales will be flat compared with the second quarter, rather than improving 5 percent as it previously projected.

“The improvement in the operating loss sequentially from second quarter is attributable to increased sales and improved profitability in our personal communications sector and commercial, government and industrial systems sector,” said Robert L. Growney, president and chief operating officer. “All other segments of the company are expected to experience sequential declines in sales and profitability.”
