TOKYO—NTT DoCoMo announced it plans to increase the speed of its i-mode and DoPa mobile Internet services by almost 20 Kbps and hopes to launch the enhanced service in spring of 2002.
The services will be upgraded from the current 9.6 Kbps speed to 28.8 Kbps, allowing users to download content more efficiently. I-mode currently serves approximately 2.7 million customers.
