NEW DELHI—Saboori Communications launched SaMoSa, which it called the world wide web of short messaging service (SMS). It is the first user configurable SMS service with micro-billing support. The SaMoSa system will enable businesses and establishments to set up their own SMS service without physically getting in touch with a mobile operator.
“This in effect would mean that practically everyone would now be able to use SMS, not just for messaging, but for their own customized business applications,” says Iran Bharat Saxena, chief executive officer and director, Saboori. Some of the applications that can be developed using SaMoSa include package tracking by small courier companies, movie listings of video libraries and conducting quizzes and contests.
SaMoSa is a text messaging platform that allows subscribers to create their own SMS-based custom applications to run on their cellular operator’s network. It offers the functionality of the World Wide Web over the SMS platform. “You can create, configure and promote your own service similarly as in the case of World Wide Web, where you can make your own Web site and promote it as well,” said Saxena.
