NEW YORK—Millicom International Cellular (MIC) announced its worldwide operations added 190,792 net new cellular subscribers in the third quarter, increasing its subscriber base by 40 percent from the year-ago quarter.
According to Marc Beuls, MIC’s president and chief executive officer, the increase “illustrates our continuing success in marketing our products and services despite the perception of uncertainty in emerging markets. We remain committed to increase our strong brand recognition and distribution channels, to ensure that subscriber growth and usage will be maintained.”
MIC added that significant annualized percentage increases were seen in emerging markets of Cambodia, Pakistan, Honduras, Senegal and Tanzania.
