ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Illinois, United States—Motorola said it will lay off 7,000 more workers as it announced a third-quarter loss of US$1.4 billion, its third consecutive loss.
The job cuts will bring the total this year to 39,000 of its 147,000 work force.
Excluding various items, it suffered about a US$7.4 billion loss, according to the company.
The report approximated analysts’ estimates, which expected a US$0.07 per share loss. Motorola said it does not expect a fourth-quarter profit.
