STOCKHOLM, Sweden—Swedish vendor NCC Telecom signed a contract to provide third-generation base stations to 3G Infrastructure Services in Sweden. The value of the contract was not disclosed.
Under the agreement, NCC will build at least 300 base stations in Sweden. The contract includes an option to build additional base stations up to the end of 2003.
The agreement with 3GIS covers project management, site procurement, project design, construction and installation, and work has already begun.
“Since we have already concluded an agreement with Tele2 in the Swedish market, we are the Swedish construction company that has made the most progress to date in terms of securing orders,” said Maged Saleh, business unit manager at NCC Telecom Sweden.
3GIS, which holds a 3G license in Sweden, is owned by Hi3G and Europolitan Vodafone.
