Tunisia plans second attempt at GSM tender

LONDON—Tunisia has restarted attempts to launch a second GSM mobile-phone license tender. The new round of bidding will close in January 2002, and the government is relaxing some of its earlier requirements in an effort to attract more bidders.

The original tender was dropped in July because the government was not satisfied with the US$381 million offered by the highest bidder, a consortium of Spain’s biggest phone operator Telef
