Alcatel to cut 1,500 jobs in U.S.

DALLAS—French vendor Alcatel says it plans to cut 1,500 jobs in the United States as its adjustment to flagging demand for phone equipment.

The company says 650 of the cuts will come from its U.S. headquarters in Plano, Texas.
