LAKE FOREST, Calif.-Verizon wireless selected Mericom Corp. to expand and enhance Verizon’s service in southern Oregon.

Mericom, through its Wilsonville, Ore., office, will provide site acquisition, land-use planning, architectural and engineering design, construction management and equipment engineering for the $2 million project. The new licenses, which Verizon acquired from RCC Minnesota, a subsidiary of Rural Cellular Corp., will cover about 60 sites in Oregon’s Roseburg, Medford, Klamath Falls and Bend areas.

The project should be completed by summer.
