Justice Department, Black Crow sign NextWave settlement; next up: Congress

WASHINGTON—The Department of Justice and Black Crow Wireless both signed the NextWave settlement papers on 27 November.

Congress is expected to shortly take up implementing legislation. A bankruptcy court must also approve the settlement.

The NextWave settlement, announced on 16 November, would resolve the litigation surrounding the U.S. personal communications services (PCS) C- and F-block licenses of bankrupt NextWave Telecom by ceding the licenses to the winners of the re-auction, which concluded earlier this year. The settlement calls for the government to receive more than US$10 billion and NextWave nearly US$6 billion from the re-auction winners.
