WLIA adopts privacy policy
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Wireless Location Industry Association (WLIA) has adopted a new privacy policy based on the Federal Trade Commission’s Fair Information Practices policy.
“No public policy issue has been more prominent than the potential infringement of individual privacy when applications of location technology are discussed,” said Andrew Duncan, president of the WLIA. “Our member companies see our association’s privacy policy as a means of communicating to our customers and the general public the wireless industry’s determination to fully respect and protect personal privacy interests.” Each member of WLIA has agreed to conform its own location based privacy policy to the WLIA’s newly adopted one.
