TIM to offer Blackberry service

TORONTO—Research In Motion (RIM) announced another major European move, this time with Telecom Italia Group in Italy to introduce RIM’s BlackBerry wireless e-mail device to the Italian corporate market.

During the past several months, RIM has announced a series of deals to introduce BlackBerrys running over General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) networks in Europe and the United States. In Europe, RIM has agreements with Telfort in the Netherlands, Esat Digifone in Ireland, BT Cellnet in the United Kingdom and Dada in Italy, as well as Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) in Italy. In North America, the company recently signed an agreement with VoiceStream to run BlackBerrys over the carrier’s GPRS network.

“Through this further innovation, TIM enriches its offering in the rapidly emerging mobile office sector,” said Roberto Pellegrini, TIM corporate division senior vice president.
