HELSINKI, Finland—Nokia has completed a location-based technology trial test, which it claims was successful.
Nokia and mobile carrier Radiolinja used Nokia’s enhanced observed time difference positioning technology in Radiolinja’s GSM network, demonstrating positioning accuracy between 50 and 100 meters. The tests were carried out from a moving vehicle traveling in urban and suburban environments. “With these customer test results in a real 2G environment, we have shown EOTD technology’s capability,” said Heikki Hammainen, general manager of Nokia’s location business program. “Indications show that we can be confident of meeting the accuracy requirements of commercial services and emergency calls.”
