HELSINKI, Finland—Nokia announced it has upgraded its third-generation (3G) wideband-CDMA (W-CDMA) network to meet 3GPP’s Release 99, June 2001 version standards.
“The milestone of switching to the June 2001 version, makes it possible to upgrade the software releases of these networks to the commercial standard level,” said Dr. J.T. Bergqvist, senior vice president of Nokia Networks.
Nokia is planning to release upgraded commercial software in the second quarter of 2002 and to launch its dual-mode W-CDMA/GSM network in the second half of 2002.
