SANTA CLARA, Calif.—Palm Inc., facing a potentially damaging court ruling, said it would appeal a U.S. district court’s decision that Palm’s widely used Graffiti handwriting-recognition technology infringes on a patent held by Xerox Corp.
“Palm will defend itself vigorously and does not intend for this litigation to affect its business strategy or business model nor that of its licensees,” said Eric Benhamou, the company’s chairman and chief executive officer.
