STOCKHOLM, Sweden-Tele2 announced a mobile virtual network operator agreement in Germany with Viag Interkom. Tele2 will use Viag’s mobile network to provide the air interface for Tele2’s fixed-line customers.
The agreement will allow Tele2 to offer combined fixed and mobile services. The service is expected to be operational in the second quarter of next year.
“Germany is the largest telecom market in Europe, and this MVNO will enable Tele2 to offer an attractively priced offering of both fixed and mobile services on one bill to our customers,” said Lars-Johan Jarnheimer, president and chief executive officer of Tele2.
Tele2 has commercial MVNO operations in Denmark and the Netherlands, where mmO2’s Telfort is the host network. Viag Interkom is also owned by British Telecommunications plc’s mmO2 mobile subsidiary.
