HP introduces wireless notebooks

PALO ALTO, Calif.—Hewlett-Packard Co. introduced two new wireless notebooks, offering embedded 802.11b or Bluetooth connectivity and digital home networking features.

HP’s Pavilion zt1000 notebook comes embedded with 802.11b connectivity and optional integrated Bluetooth capabilities, while the company’s ze1110 notebook starts at just over $1,000. HP also introduced a line of home networking products that work on 802.11b networks.

Separately, HP board member Walter Hewlett filed an expected preliminary proxy statement in order to solicit votes against the proposed merger between HP and Compaq Computer Corp. Hewlett’s filing is the latest in a series of moves in a growing argument over the merger.
