Ericsson sets up mobile system for relief workers in Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan—Ericsson has set up a mobile telecommunications system to support the World Food Program of the United Nations humanitarian operations for the next six months.

“Ericsson provides a complete GSM system, which is now installed on a hill in the center of Kabul,” said Ericsson in a statement. “The GSM system can host up to 5,000 subscribers, and it will initially provide communication for 200 users for the UN and other humanitarian organizations making their relief work more efficient.”
