NEW YORK—Emblaze Systems said it has concluded successfully an MPEG4 compliance interoperability test with Samsung Electronics.
The companies conducted the trial to determine whether Emblaze’s wireless media platform is interoperable with Samsung’s cdma2000 1x network, thereby allowing it to transmit multimedia content.
Emblaze said it supplied the content for several kinds of devices tested, including the Compaq iPAQ and Samsung SPH X2000.
“Each company has its own interpretation of MPEG4. Emblaze is part of the multinational force driving standards and interoperability so the entire globe will be ubiquitous in formats and service,” said Eli Reifman, chief executive officer (CEO) of Emblaze.
“The key carriers and handset makers have already decided to launch multimedia services and handsets during 2002 and 2003. … Samsung, of course, is one of the leaders in the cellular market, both on the handset as well as the infrastructure side.”
