AUSTIN, Texas—Advanced Micro Devices said it plans to acquire chipmaker Alchemy Semiconductor by the end of the first quarter of this year. The companies have disclosed the financial terms of the deal.
Alchemy makes chips for personal digital assistants and MP3 players.
“By joining forces, AMD and Alchemy can supply the building blocks of connectivity—computing solutions from Alchemy coupled with wired and wireless technologies and flash memory devices from AMD,” said Hector Ruiz, AMD’s president.
