SWINDON, U.K.—Lucent Technologies said it has completed successful tests for Internet Protocol (IP) virtual private networks (VPN) using Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) equipment.
“The secure IP VPN connections will enable mobile subscribers to use a service provider’s wireless network as an extension of their corporate local area network or intranet, allowing them to work from any location as if they were in the office,” said Lucent in a statement.
