Airline phone service agreement reached

CANNES, France—Airline communications provider SITA and roaming services supplier Comfone announced they have signed a contract that will make it easier for airline passengers to pay for on-board, in-flight phone calls.

Passengers will swipe SITA’s AIRCOM Mobile Charging Card through onboard handsets to pay for all in-flight calls through their GSM subscriber accounts. “Our partnership with Comfone represents an important development for passengers, who will continue to see improvements in the field of in-flight voice and data communications,” said Veronique Blanc, director of passenger and cabin communications for SITA. “Through working with Comfone, a customized SITA solution will be put in place to meet the needs of our customers as well as satisfying the requirements of the GSM industry.”
