Ricochet trial moves ahead in Denver

DENVER, United States—Aerie Networks subsidiary Ricochet Networks initiated a technical trial of the Ricochet high-speed wireless data network in Denver, marking the return of the service since its former owner, Metricom., filed for bankruptcy in August 2001.

Ricochet is working with the City and County of Denver’s Office of Information Technology to test the network’s capabilities in part of downtown Denver. The trial will provide Internet access during emergency management exercises associated with the demolition of Mile High Stadium sports facility.

“This is a crucial step in reactivating the Ricochet service,” said Mort Aaronson. “We’re testing our capabilities so we’re prepared to turn the service back on in select markets in the second quarter.”
