HELSINKI, Finland—Cable & Wireless GRX and Sonera GRX have joined to enable worldwide GPRS roaming through GRX (GPRS Roaming Exchange) interconnect for their mobile customers.
The combination will enable roaming between 27 operators in Europe, Asia and North America, the companies said.
“Offering a truly global GPRS service is crucial to encouraging the uptake of GPRS, and we are committed to enabling connectivity between the maximum number of operators throughout the world,” said Andrew McGrath, president of service providers for Cable & wireless. “This agreement with Sonera is one of several agreements we are establishing with leading GRX providers and builds on the fast-growing number of operators we are connecting directly to our GRX.”
